Attention, Productivity, and Screen Time

Understanding the Adolescent Experience

Abstract

With a particular focus on attention span, productivity, and social media addiction, this study examines how screen time affects adolescents' cognitive abilities. To evaluate the relationships between variables, quantitative data was analyzed using regression, correlation, and ANOVA models. The results challenge popular beliefs that screen exposure is always harmful by showing no statistically significant relationship between screen time and productivity or attention span. Screen time and social media addiction, however, were found to be significantly and significantly correlated, underscoring the addictive nature of digital engagement. Additionally, correlational analyses showed a significant negative relationship between productivity and both attention span and social media dependence, as well as a moderately positive relationship between attention span and social media addiction.
